Leading up to Earth Science Week 2016, the American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is pleased to invite teams of educators and students to enter its new "One Shared Place" contest. Each team will submit a 30- to 90-second original video informing viewers about an outdoor place that is special in terms of geoheritage (natural features, settings, and resources formed over vast periods) and geoscience (the study of Earth systems).

Charles Weiner, former AGI Foundation Trustee and resident of Houston, Texas, passed away April 6, 2016. Charles Weiner was a recent honoree of an anonymous gift to inaugurate AGI's Charles Weiner Center for Geoscience and Society, and last January there was a celebration to take note of this. If you'd like to celebrate the memory of Charles Weiner through a donation to the Charles Weiner Center for Geoscience and Society, please feel free to make your contribution online or by check to American Geosciences Institute Foundation, c/o P.
