William L. Fisher Congressional Geoscience Fellowship
This endowment has been established to ensure continued future support for the William L. Fisher Congressional Geoscience Fellowship. Although more than thirty scientific and engineering societies sponsor congressional fellows, this endowment is the first of its kind, demonstrating a lasting commitment for the geosciences. It has been named in honor of Dr. William L. Fisher to commemorate his important geoscience contributions and the key role he has played in development of geo-policy decisions at the national level.
Dr. William L. Fisher
The AGI Congressional Geoscience Fellowship Endowment has been named in honor of Dr. William L. Marcus Milling Legendary Geoscientist Award
The Marcus Milling Legendary Geoscientist Award, established in 1999, joins the ranks of prestigious geoscientist awards within North America. The award is offered by the American Geosciences Institute and the Foundation. It is given periodically to a living geoscientist who has a long history of sustained scientific achievement and exceptional service to the geoscience profession.
AGI is grateful to Jan and Mary van Sant for the idea and initial funding for this award. Others are encouraged to join them so that this award may be presented to deserving geoscientists in perpetuity.
